How can we help? 👋

Pre-screening

In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to create pre-screening questions so that candidates who do not have the right qualifications can be filtered out even before they begin filling out the application form. This way, you’ll receive a more qualified pool of applicants and save time by avoiding irrelevant applications.

How to create a pre-screening

To create a pre-screening, go to Settings > Pre-screenings. Then click on the three dots in the far-right column and select Edit.

A window will now open where you have the following options:

Title: Here you can enter a title related to the job posting you want to link the pre-screening to.

Rejection Text: Write the message you want the applicant to see if they do not qualify for the position, e.g., “Unfortunately, you do not meet the qualifications for this position.”

Add Pre-screening Questions: Here you can add the questions you wish to screen with, e.g., “Are you a qualified preschool teacher?” Read more in the description below.

Single choice – the applicant selects only one option from a predefined list of answers (dropdown):

This is useful when the applicant needs to choose from more than two answer options, which are presented in a so-called dropdown menu – that is, a scrollable list where the available answers are displayed.

Options:

Add choice: Click here to add the answers candidates can choose from, for example, yes and no. You can add as many answer options as you like.

How to indicate the correct answer in the pre-screening

To specify which answer is correct and thereby allow the applicant to proceed in the process, you need to check the box for Correct answer when creating the answer options. There can be multiple correct answers, and if so, simply check all the correct options.

When you have selected the relevant pre-screening from the dropdown menu, more options will appear, which you can read about below:

  • Pre-screening reject mail template: Choose the email template that will be sent to the applicant if they do not qualify in the pre-screening to apply for the job, and if they wish to receive a rejection by email.
  • Pre-screening reject status: Choose the status you want the applicant to have when they have been rejected in relation to applying for the job.

The pre-screening is now linked to the job posting.

In this guide, you have learned how to create a pre-screening and link it to a job posting.
